Berlin Circus Festival

The Berlin Circus Festival is the first annual festival for contemporary circus, dance and performance art in Berlin and takes place in Berlin on the Tempelhof field. Over 10 days, international companies from all over Europe will present their productions to a growing audience. The festival opens up a new field for actors from all over the world who set new impulses in the German art scene with high-quality productions.

With the festival, Berlin Circus Production creates a platform to promote the visibility, sustainability and diversity of contemporary circus art and to establish circus as an art form. As part of the festival, it presents top-class international productions in various formats and organises professional, practical and theoretical workshops, audience discussions and meetings, artist residencies, round tables and networking events as well as formats for up-and-coming artists.

In close cooperation with national and international partner organisations, an annually changing country focus and long-term partnerships are developed. The programme focuses on works by artists from the respective partner country and on intercultural exchange with Berlin artists. Together they seek interdisciplinary interfaces and act as a source of inspiration for the contemporary performing arts.

The festival site is a temporary Gesamtkunstwerk whose interdisciplinary approach appeals to a broad audience. Several concerts as well as exhibitions in the fields of photography, sculpture and painting with the themes of city, movement and circus create an intercultural meeting place.
