The festival of new circus, acrobatics, and clowning, held in Lublin southeastern Poland since 2008. Street performers and masters of circus arts from all over Europe come to Lublin to present breathtaking shows. Since many years ago, Carnaval has always been held around the final weekend of July.
Carnaval SztukmistrzĂłw is the most important and significant festival of contemporary circus in Poland. The Festival was created in 2009Â and become a grand celebration for the whole city and the region.
Carnaval consists of several of modules – street performance, performances in tents and theatres, workshops, festival club, multidisciplinary projects, conferences on the subject matter, outdoor activities and the Urban Highline festival. Over one hundred activities in the course of 4 days. 100 performances in the streets and in circus tents and 150 thousand spectators. All these make Carnaval Sztukmistrzów the biggest festival dedicated to the art of the Contemporary Circus in Poland.
Urban Highline Festival is the biggest slacklining festival in the world and the only one organized in the historical part of town, in the Old Town. Every year, more than 250 slackliners from over 25 countries visit UHF.
Carnaval is exceptional not only in its size and the art it represents but most of all through its proposed narration. It came to be as an answer to the state of our culture that lacks events of social and ludic character that communities can experience together. Carnaval Sztukmistrzów provides an opportunity to create social bonds and inspires cultural expressions. It’s not only a festival but a real identity-shaping urban celebration.
